IWPSD 2011 IIT Kanpur XVI International Workshop on the Physics of Semiconductor Devices

The XVI International Workshop on the Physics of Semiconductor Devices is being organized at Kanpur by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and Semiconductor Society of India during December 19-22 , 2011. You are cordially invited to participate. This series of biennial workshop provides a valuable forum for interaction between scientists & technologist working in the area of semiconductor materials and devices. Cancellation Policy For The Registration Fee

50% of the registration fee will be refunded for cancellations done before 20th November 2011. No refunds for cancellations will be made after 20th November 2011. For cancellation of hotel reservations, the respective hotel policies apply. Please check the terms & conditions with the hotel at the time of hotel booking.

Important Note About Online Payment
From August 1, As per Reserve Bank of India guidelines, credit cards have to be registered with "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard Secure Code" to avoid any problems. Most of the people who encounter problems with paying online would be because of non registration of their credit cards with their issuing banks as now it is compulsory to register their cards with their bank authorities and then use it online without which RBI has directed all charges to be declined. All cardholders must use a Password/PIN while making any purchase online in India. This is an additional Password/PIN that must be entered along with the card number, expiry date and CVC2, while making the transaction.

How To Reach

By Air Most Visitors to IIT Kanpur get off at Lucknow Airport, and take a taxi from the airport taxi stand to IIT, which is around 11/2 to 2 hours. Taxis booked from IIT campus for pick up at the airport charge Rs. 1000 to 1500 (depending on vehicle type and AC/nonAC). Flights between Delhi-Lucknow are almost every hour between 6am-9pm. Mumbai-Lucknow and Kolkata-Lucknow also have direct flights. Plus, there is one midday ATR flight of AI between Delhi-Kanpur.
By Railway Kanpur is connected by rail with all metros, and with high speed trains from Delhi and Kolkata. The Delhi-Kanpur connection ranges from 5 hour travel in morning/evening to overnight trains. IIT Kanpur is about 16 kms from the Kanpur Central Railway Station. Taxis and Three-wheelers are available from the Cantonment side (Platform No. 1 side) of the Kanpur Central Railway Station. The rates are around Rs. 200/- to 250/- for a taxi and Rs. 130/- for a Three-wheeler. Visitors are expected to reach the Guest House (Visitors' Hostel) in the IIT-campus for accommodation.
By RoadKanpur is connected on NH2 running between Amritsar and Kolkata and connecting cities like Delhi, Agra, Allahabad, Patna. It is about 480 km from Delhi through this highway. Kanpur is also connected to Lucknow on NH25 and is about 91 km from Lucknow. Kanpur is connected to Delhi (440 Km) through another parallel highway NH81 and passing through Ghaziabad, Aligarh.

XVII National Seminar on Aerospace Structures (NASAS) Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur















The National Seminar on Aerospace Structures (NASAS), held periodically under the aegis of the Structures Panel of the Aeronautics Research & Development Board (AR&DB), has now gained prominence as a major forum for discussion on topics of importance in the field of aerospace structures. Over the years, this seminar has provided a platform to a large number of academicians, scientists, engineers, students and users to present their research work, exchange notes and share ideas for future growth of the field. The XVII NASAS is being held at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur from 22 to 24 September, 2011.



Abstract Submission


The aim of the conference is to provide a platform to exchange scientific information on Aerospace Structures and related fields. Abstract of the papers should clearly state the purpose of study, principal results, and major conclusions.The abstract must be limited to 1000 words only and must follow the format provided. Download "Abstract Template" for detailed guidelines for abstract submission.
A soft copy of the abstract should be submitted to the Convenor of the conference through Email.

About the Workshop
The aim of this workshop is to conduct course specific sessions by bringing the faculty who developed the course with teachers who are likely to use the lecture material. In future, a few representative students from many user institutions may be invited to participate in these workshops and give their feedback.
The present workshop has been arranged at JSS Noida during 30-31 October, 2010. The disciplines covered in this workshop are Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Sciences & Engineering. The nomination of faculty members are being sought for this workshop from Engineering Institute of Western Uttar Pradesh who are teaching courses in these areas.

The present workshop has been arranged at JSS Academy of Technical Education NOIDA on 30-31 October 2010.

Seminar on Micro Solar Energy Generation and Utilization 3rd & 4th September 2011 Jointly organized by IIT Kanpur and IETE Kanpur Centre





At IIT Kanpur, we have been making efforts to promote solar energy. We are working towards making the institute a Centre of Excellence in Photovoltaic Research and Education and establish Solar Energy Research Enclave to do meaningful research and development. We have been organizing national and international conferences, seminar, symposium and workshops to bring to focus different issues and challenges related to solar energy technologies. Two national (http://www.iitk.ac.in/photovoltaics/) and international (http://www.iitk.ac.in/ ispst/) conferences/ syposium were organized in 2008 and 2010 respectively to promote the cause of solar photovoltaic. The institute’s Solar Energy Research Initiative was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 3 July 2010.

ACCOMODATION



Sufficient and reasonably good accommodation to host Seminar is available at Visitor Hostel and Hall of Residences at IIT Campus and neighboring Institutes/ Universities. Accommodation will be provided to all participants with no extra cost. However, intimation for requirement of accommodation should be marked in the Registration Form.

Five star and three star hotels are also available in Kanpur city. Reservation of accommodation can also be made in these hotels for those who like to stay there. The desire to stay in hotel should appropriately be checked in the Registration Form. The present charges at Hotel Landmark for standard AC Room with single occupancy are Rs.4000 + Taxes. EXHIBITION 

Exhibition showcasing the various technologies, products and machinery related to solar energy is being planned on the side line of the Seminar. We invite the industry, vendors and promoters of different products related to solar energy to the exhibition. Their products and name of the companies will find prominent places in advertising materials, hoardings, proceedings and in & around IITK and Kanpur city. They will be provided adequate space/enclosures to put up their products at minimum costs. Plan and book your stalls in advance for making adequate arrangements. Adequate publicity is being made to attract concerned people and public in general to visit. We hope that the exhibition will be able to generate enough interest and awareness about the benefit and adequacy of the solar energy.

HOW TO REACH IIT KANPUR


Located alongside the Grand Trunk Road (Calcutta to New Delhi) IIT Kanpur is nearly 16kms away from the Kanpur central railway station. Being located on the national corridor of railways the city of Kanpur is well connected with the rest of India by rail services.

It is better to catch Lucknow Shatabdi Exp. (Tain no. 2036) leaving Delhi at 6:15am and reaching Kanpur at 11:20am. Tickets for Chair car and Executive class are usually available on the New Delhi Railway Station also (ticket counter is outside exit from Platform no. 14). Ticket counter opens at 4:30am till 6:00am for this train.
Else one can also faster trains like Rajdhani Trains (please see RJDHNI or RJDHANI or RAJDHANI beside train name in this list)

For Foreign visitors- 
You may take a flight to New Delhi/Calcutta/Bombay and then a flight to Lucknow. From Lucknow taxi takes about 2 hours to reach Kanpur. Alternatively you may take a train from Delhi to Kanpur. It is advisable to take a train from Delhi to Kanpur. There are some good trains like Rajdhani and Shatabdi that run from Delhi to Kanpur which require prior booking of seat. All the foreign participants are requested to send their travel information.

After getting down at Kanpur Central railway station, take exit from platform no. 1 and hire a taxi or an auto to IIT Kanpur Campus. The fare is about:
